Bolshoi Theatre presents first premiere on its refurbished Main Stage
Ruslan and Lyudmila will be the first premiere to take place on the refurbished, historic Bolshoi Theatre Main Stage
The first night performances are on 2, 3, 5, 6, 8-10 November.
The Bolshoi Theatre is about to return to its historic Main Stage. The Bolshoi artists for whom this stage is the best in the world are over the moon, as are Muscovites who are again able to enjoy the reborn Theatre Square in all its magnificence.
On 9 October, the Bolshoi Theatre and the French Company Pathe Live (former CielEcran), are to continue their live performances in real time of Bolshoi Ballet productions, with a screening of La Esmeralda. Maria Alexandrova, Ruslan Skvortsov, Ekaterina Krysanova and Denis Savin will dance the lead roles.
The Bolshoi Theatre is again to produce the most caustic and paradoxical of Rimsky-Korsakov’s operas, the most “unfairytale-like” of all his tales, the tale about the golden cockerel.
The premiere series of performances will run from 19-23 June.
A memorial plaque, dedicated to the remarkable Russian choreographer, Merited Artist of the Imperial Theatres, Alexander Gorsky (1871-1924) who, for well nigh quarter of a century (1902-1924) headed the Bolshoi Theatre Ballet Company and made a huge contribution to the formation of the Moscow style of Russian classical ballet, returned to its rightful place on the house - No 4/2 Bolshaya Dmitrovka Street (today the Bolshoi Theatre New Stage) - where the choreographer lived at the beginning of the last century.

From September 12th to 18th the world of opera revolves around Moscow when prominent opera and festival directors, singers, important representatives of media and agencies and over 120 young opera singers from 40 nations all over the world gather for the finals of one of the world's biggest singing contests Competizione dell'Opera.

The program of the tour includes several performances of Eugene Onegin and a symphony concert.
