As the curtain descends on 2009, the Paris National Opera is to pay tribute at the Palais Garnier to Sergei Diaghilev’s ballet Saisons Russes, whose centenary has been celebrated this year throughout the world. From 12 up to and including 3l December there will be 12 performances of a Gala Evening with a concert programme which will include the hallmark ballets of the Diaghilev enterprise.
The 16 December Gala, called Hommage aux Ballets Russes, is a special occasion: on this evening, Opera de Paris Ballet Company etoiles will ’keep company’ with Bolshoi Ballet stars.
