Steven was born in Lancashire, UK. He gained an Honours degree in music from Durham University before going on to study piano accompaniment at the Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester, and to train as a repetiteur and coach at London´s National Opera Studio.
Since then Steven has worked regularly for Glyndebourne Festival Opera where he is a senior coach. He is a guest at De Nederlandse Opera in Amsterdam amongst other places.
Steven is also a coach on the Young Artists´ Programme at Covent Garden, London.
