16 April 2015, Thursday
April, 25 "Le Nozze di Figaro" will be premiered at The Bolshoi stage.Thw stage director Evgeny Pisarev is well acquainted with the title character: last season he staged Beaumarchais's "The Marriage of Figaro" at his Pushkin Drama Theatre. For the staging at The Bolshoi he chose not very traditional form: "My aim was to highlight the festive spirit of this opera. We transposed it to a nominal mid-20th century: 50s, 60s or 70s, a post-war period full of rejoicing, celebration and love of life. Our production is all about love, of course". Costume designer Victoria Sevryukova promises a very spectacular performance: "The visual setting of the staging will be quite unusual. The aspect of a game, of a carnival is very important here. Our characters will always look chic, even in their home clothes! And of course the middle of XX century is a golden age in history of fashion…" The main parts will be performed by: Count Almaviva - Andrei Jilihovschi, Konstantin Shushakov Countess Almaviva - Anna Kraynikova, Ekaterina Morozova Susanna - Anna Aglatova, Olga Kulchinskaya, Alina Yarovaya Figaro - Alexander Miminoshvili, Pavel Chervinsky Cherubino - Alexandra Kadurina, Yulia Mazurova The conductor's stand will be taken by maestro William Lacey who has conducted the last semi-staged production of this opera, which was a great success with Moscow and St. Petersburg audiences and repeated that success this year with the audience of Norway. The premiere run will take place on 25-26, 28-30 April and 24-26 June 2015. The tickets for the June performances are available in the theatre's ticket offices and at our official website: http://tickets.bolshoi.ru/en/performance/8092/
