Pavel Kudinov

Bass

Born in Dimitrovgrad, Russia. In 1999 he graduated from the Sobinov State Conservatoire in Saratov (Viktor Demidov’s class).

He joined the Samara Opera and Ballet Theatre in 2000 and appeared in 2001 with the Moscow Helikon Opera, moving in 2002 to the Vienna Volksoper, where his roles included Zuniga (Carmen), Sarastro and the Speaker (Die Zauberfloete), Colline (La Boheme), Lefort (Zar und Zimmermann) and Selim (Il turco in Italia).

He appeared in Ruslan and Lyudmila in Karlsruhe and in 2003 as Heinrich in Lohengrin at the Spoleto Festival dei Due Mondi. Other appearances include, in 2004, Verdi's Requiem, and the role of Pimen in Boris Godunov in Basel.

At Leipzig Opera he performed the following parts:

Farfallo (Die schweigsame Frau) - Teatro de la Maestranza, Sevilla, 2009

In 2010 he made his Bolshoi Theatre debut as Escamillo (Carmen). In the same year, he also performed the role of Sarastro (Die Zauberfloete).

Awards

Competition triumphs include the Moscow Romaciada (diploma, 1997), the Vienna Hans Gabor Belvedere Competition (3rd prize, 2004) and the International Ferruccio Tagliavini Singing Competition in Graz (1st prize, 2004).
