In 2019 Russian mezzo-soprano Anna Goryachova returns to London as Paulina for The Queen of Spades conducted by Antonio Pappano and to Zurich as Adalgisa for Norma conducted by Fabio Luisi. At Berlin Staatsoper she will give her debut as Clara D’Almanzo in Prokofiev’s Betrothal in a Monastery conducted by Daniel Barenboim and directed by Dmitri Tcherniakov.
Highlights of past seasons include Dorabella in Così fan tutte in Zurich staged by Kirill Serebrennikov and the same role also in Florence under Michele Mariotti in Bologna. She sung the title role in Carmen at the Arena di Verona, in London and Madrid, Rosina in Il Barbiere di Sivigliaat the Festival d’Opéra Baroque in Beaune and at the Mikhailovskij-Theatre in St. Petersburg, Sesto in La Clemenza di Tito in Ghent and Antwerp, Rossini’s La Cenerentola in Oslo, Melibea in Rossini’s Il Viaggio a Reims in Copenhagen, under Stefano Molinari in Amsterdam and under Alberto Zedda in Antwerp, Adalgisa in Bellini’s Norma in Trieste and under Nello Santi in Naples, Paolina in The Queen of Spades directed by Stefan Herheim and conducted by Mariss Jansons in Amsterdam, Ruggero in Händel’s Alcina under Christophe Rousset at Opéra National in Paris, Isabella in L’Italiana in Algeri at the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro, the title role in Carmen under Dmitri Jurowski in Antwerp, Alcina in Haydn’s Orlando Paladino at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris under Jean-Christophe Spinosi and Edoardo in Rossini’s Matilde di Shabran under Michele Mariotti at the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro.
From 2012 to 2017, Anna Goryachova belonged to the ensemble of Zurich Opera, where she was heard in Strauss’ Salome, in Rossini’s La Scala di Seta, in Etvös’s Drei Schwestern, in Händel’s Rinaldo, as Zerlina in Mozart’s Don Giovanni conducted by Fabio Luisi, as Magdalena in Wagner’s Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg conducted by Sebastian Weigle, as Paolina in Tchaikovsky’s Queen of Spades conducted by Jiri Belohlavek, as Rosina in Il Barbiere di Siviglia conducted by Enrique Mazzola, as Yen-Er in the world creation of Christian Jost’s Rote Laterne conducted by Alain Altinoglu, as Zelim in Vivaldi’s La Verità in Cimento conducted by Ottavio Dantone, as Melibea in Il Viaggio a Reims conducted by Daniele Rustioni and lately as Alcina in Orlando Paladino.
As a concert singer she performed Stravinsky’s Les Noces under Andrés Orozco-Estrada and Rossinis Stabat Mater at the Rossini Festival in Pesaro.
Anna Goryachova studied at the Conservatorium of her hometown St. Petersburg with Galina Kiselyova as well as in Rome with Renata Scotto and Romualdo Savastano.
2008 she won 2nd prize as well as a special award at the International Voice Competition Galina Wishnevskaya in Moscow.
She started her career with appearances at the St. Petersburg Chamber Opera, at Chamber Opera Schloss Rheinsberg, at the Canadian Knowlton Festival, in the title role of Carmen at the Berlin Classic Open Air and in Philip Glass’ opera Witches of Venice in Rome.
