The founder of the Taganka Theatre was taken to the Botkin Hospital in Moscow on Thursday night; he was in the critical condition. Georgi Golukhov, the head of the Moscow City Health Department, told "Interfax" that "the best specialists in dif ferent spheres" examined the director to elaborate the scheme of treatment. "Interfax" was also told by the medical source that, contrary to what many mass media sources had announced last week, Lyubimov had not suffered from the cardiac failure. The source added: "His condition was associated with his age; the director was 97 years old and had undergone various illnesses. The consequences of those illnesses had certain implications for his health condition". Y uri L yubimov was born on September 30th 1917. He founded Taganka Theatre in 1964 and was its head for 20 years, until he was deprived of USSR citizenship in 1984. In 1989 Lyubimov became Taganka Theatre's director again. In June 2011, during guest performances in Czech Republic, Lyubimov and the theatre's company argued. The actors demanded Lyubimov pay them their fees for the guest performances. He gave them the money, said he did not want to work with them any longer and gave his notice to terminate. Lyubimov left the theatre on July 15th 2011. Later he started working with other theatres. The opera "Prince Igor", staged by Y. L yubimov, premiered at the Bolshoi Theatre in June 2013.

On May 20 2014 the premiere of the opera-buf f "The School for Wives", based on the comedy by Moliere, premiered at the Novaya Opera. Vladimir Fleischer, the T aganka Theatre director, announced on Sunday that the theatre, which is presenting its guest performances in Crimea at the moment, was planning to organize special events to pay tribute to the memory of Yuri Lyubimov. The best productions of Yuri Lyubimov In memory of the great director On Sunday the great theatre director Yuri Lyubimov passed away. Buro 24/7 remembers productions, staged by the founder of the Taganka Theatre, which went down in the history of the theatre art. "Prince Igor" Y uri P. Lyubimov, the acknowledged reformer of the Russian theatre, was born in 1917. Hard as it may be to believe, but the founder of the Taganka Theatre started his theatre career before the Second World War: in 1935 Lyubimov played his first part in

the student production at the 2 Moscow Art Theatre Studio. He became a director in 1959, when he staged the play "Does a Man Need Much" by A. Galich at the Vakhtangov Theatre. The director devoted more than half a century to the theatre, so it is almost impossible to choose his "best" productions. /…/ "Prince Igor", 2014 In July of 201 1 Yuri Lyubimov left his native theatre. The director explained that this happened due to his conflict with the Department of Culture and the theatre's company. However, the creative career of the 94-year old luminary did not finish at that point. In 2012 the premiere of the new production "Demons" took place at the V akhtagov Theatre, where Lyubimov started his career as a director. In 2013 the Bolshoi Theatre opened its doors for the director, who staged there the opera "Prince Igor". This version of the famous opera by Borodin was called "L yubimov's Prince Igor"; it was extremely unique, laconic and elegant. The tickets were sold out long before the premiere. The production "The School for Wives" at the

Novaya Opera, which premiered on May 20 2014, was Yuri Lyubimov's last project.

The great director passed away on October 5 2014. "Prince Igor" A concert, marking the anniversary of N. Rimsky-Korsakov, took place at the Bolshoi Theatre

singers. The author of this concert, a composer and a pianist Alexander Pokidchenko, came up with a program that could be called the anthology of romances in Rimsky-Korsakov's body of work. It is not a secret that many romances were written when the composer worked on his operas and sometimes were sort of sketches of those operas. For example, the program of the concert included the Jewish Song, which was composed as the work on the first opera "The Maid of Pskov" was in full swing, and two sets of romances, composed at the time when the opera "The Snow Maiden" became a huge success. Rimsky-Korsakov himself called his best romances "music sketches for "The Tsar's Bride". Those romances were included in the program of the concert as well. The audience also heard some works that are not very famous; for example, the first romances "in imitation of Balakirev", composed by Rimsky-Korsakov at the age of 20. The concert starred the participants of the Bolshoi Theatre Young Artists Opera Program and the Bolshoi Opera Company soloist Yulia Mazurova. Valeria Prokofieva and Elizaveta Malashenko played the piano.
