The Bolshoi Theatre pocket park remains the main venue for veterans' meetings. People come here hoping to find their fellow soldiers and those they have got acquainted with during similar meetings.
As the NTV journalist Georgi Grivenny reports, "thank you" and "congratulations" were two most popular words. People said them as often as they gave flowers to total strangers. At the same time it seemed that everyone who came to the Bolshoi Theatre pocket part had known each other for a long time.
Veniamin Lirtsman, a veteran of the Great Patriotic War: "I am so happy about it; I am both surprised and happy". He is already 90 years old. He admits that he has difficulties walking, but simply could not stay at home on such a day. This is where fellow soldiers used to meet. There was even no need to call or send letters beforehand.
The campaign "Thank you for the life". Everyone can bring a picture of a veteran and put it into a special slot on the big billboard. Thus, all of them, dead and alive, can
meet at the Bolshoi Theatre pocket park on May 9, as usual.Photo: Damir Yusupov
